Do you remember Small Business Opportunities magazine?

Do you remember Small Business Opportunities magazine? I sure do! I can’t quite recall if I was 12, 13, or 14, but I vividly remember going down to the bookstore, flipping through all the ads and articles. I’d get so inspired to be my own boss, motivated to become an entrepreneur, and eager to learn all I could about business.

Besides Small Business Opportunities, I was hooked on other magazines like Entrepreneur, Home Business Connection, Cutting Edge Opportunities, Money Makers Monthly, and Spare Time. Each one fueled my passion to start my own business!

That was about 35 or 40 years ago. It’s crazy to think I’m almost 52 now! But here’s the cool part—I ended up starting my own magazine, Home Business Advertiser (HBA), 21 years ago.

Running a magazine is a lot of work—building relationships, selling and designing ads, getting approvals, working with printers, customers, advertisers, and even navigating the challenges of the USPS (the post office can be a real bear!). But I truly love it.
